Christie's sale Fine Oriental Carpets 12. June 2002, 10:30 AM, 85 Old
Brompton Road , London. According to Christie's the summer sale of antique
carpets provides numerous exquisite carpets in various shapes, sizes
and patterns. There are 70 lots and estimates range from £600-9,000.
Christie's description - Lot 1 - An
unusual Karabagh long rug, South Caucasus. The
shaded soft red field with two columns of lage stylized horses surrounded
by small stellar flower heads, hooked lozenges, floral motifs and smaller
animal figures, in shaded charcoal-black border of arrowheads and hooked
bars between zig-zag and barber-pole stripes, good condition.

Christie's description - Lot 22 - A Heriz carpet, North-West Persia.
The shaded rust field with angular
palmette and leafy vine around stepped indigo medallion with hooked
palmette pendants containing palmette cartouches enclosing dusty-pink
radiating floral centrepiece, ivory spandrels similar, in broad shaded
indigo border of bold polychrome turtle-palmettes and angular floral vine
between shaded brick-red floral meander stripes, very slight (secured)
loss at each end, slight wear.

Christie's description - Lot 63 - An unusual fine Kurdish rug, North
West Persia.
The field with three columns of linked
shaded rust, ivory and light blue octagons, each containing polychrome Memling
gul divided by checkered and hooked lozenges, in rust-red border
of stellar flower head octagons and barber-pole bars between angular vine,
running-dog and barber-pole stripes, good condition.
